In the early 1980s a group of people, based on their relationship with the Greek Sugar Industry, decided to buy some land on Mount Vermio in the prefecture of Imathia, and more specifically in the village of Xirolivado.
This group consisted of 100 members and the lands purchased consisted of about 500 acres of forest and 11 acres of residential plot.
Immediately, an agricultural cooperative was created, which after years became compulsory under the current legislation.
The name of this "Elata" based in the local district of Koumaria of Imathia, where Xirolivado belongs and also belongs to the forestry department of Veria.
